Another successful gathering of gardeners at our patch in Wilson Park on Sunday 6th August. We gained a new member and caught up with some current ones.
Working on strongly defined gender lines, Alan & Shane took on the task of putting together “the simplest assembly shed in the world”. Three hours later, with the women’s expert assistance, mission accomplished.
Those who came along went home with more produce, seeds and plants and advice on their problems.
Our first Spring gathering will be on Sunday 10th September 10 -12
Sandra will be on hand to talk about how to grow seeds and cuttings for the new season. Bring along any spare plants, seeds or goodies from your garden and meet the locals.
With all the winter rain we have been having, the garden is booming! All the beds are starting to look very full and bursting with potential future produce.
The broad bean bed is jam packed, and full of flowers. The capsicums (maybe chillis?) are also starting to flower. The spinach is covered in yellow flowers, which if we let them go to seed can be used to grow next years crop.
All these flowers will start attracting bees to the garden, so they can help pollinate the next round of produce that the garden will provide us.
Lucky Dip Plant Swap
If you are coming to the harvest, try and bring a plant or plant related item for the luck dip.
